The Local Ordinary of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba in South Sudan, Stephen Cardinal Ameyu Mulla is soliciting support towards the furnishing of the residence of his Auxiliary, Bishop Santo Loku Pio Doggale.
In his letter that ACI Africa obtained on Monday, March 24, Cardinal Ameyu says, “The completion of his house is a milestone for our Archdiocese, but we still need your generous support to furnish it adequately.”
He explains that as Bishop Loku continues his Episcopal Ministry in South Sudan’s only Metropolitan See, “we recognize the need to ensure that his new residence is well-furnished to provide a comfortable and dignified place for his ministry.”
The South Sudanese Catholic Church leader, who has been at the helm of the Juba Archdiocese since his Installation in March 2020 refers to St. Paul’s letter to the Romans, saying, “As members of one body in Christ, let us come together in unity to contribute towards this noble cause.”
“Your financial assistance, material donations, or any form of support will be a testament to our commitment to the Church and our beloved Bishop,” Cardinal Ameyu says in his March 20 appeal to support the furnishing of the residence of the 55-year-old Auxiliary Bishop, who started his Episcopal Ministry in February 2011.
He appeals to “individuals, families, parish communities, and well-wishers to offer whatever they can.”
“No gift is too small when given with love and faith. May God bless you abundantly for your generosity and reward you for your kindness,” says the South Sudanese Cardinal, whose transfer from Torit Diocese to Juba was met with resistance from a section of the Clergy and Laity of Juba Archdiocese.
In his one-page letter of appeal for support, Cardinal Ameyu, who also serves as the President of the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference (SCBC) since his installation in January 2024 implores, “May the Lord, who loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7), bless you and your families abundantly.”
“Kindly contact the Chancellor of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba in the Curia main building opposite Juba Teaching Hospital and on this phone Number +211 9255 00752,” the Local Ordinary of Juba Archdiocese who was among the three Africans created Cardinals during the 30 September 2023 Consistory says.
