Pope Francis has appointed the Apostolic Nuncio in Mali, Archbishop Jean-Sylvain Emien Mambé, as his representative in the neighboring West African nation of Guinea.
The appointment of Archbishop Emien was announced Saturday, November 12 and published by the Holy See Press Office.
The Conakry-based Nunciature has been vacant since February 2022 following the resignation of Archbishop Tymon Tytus Chmielecki.
Archbishop Emien has been representing the Holy Father in Mali since his appointment in February this year.
Born in Ivory Coast in September 1970, Msgr. Emien was ordained a Priest for the West African nation’s Catholic Diocese of Yopougon in December 1997.
He entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See on 1 July 2005, and has, over the years, served in Apostolic Nunciatures in Angola, Nigeria, Guinea, Mali, New Zealand, Spain and the Czech Republic.
The holder of a degree in Canon Law speaks English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian languages.
