Pope Francis has appointed Mons. Clément Herizo Rakotoasimbola, who has been serving as Vicar Delegate of the Apostolic Administrator “sede vacante” of Maintirano Diocese in Madagascar as the Local Ordinary of the same Episcopal See.
The appointment of the member of the Congregation of the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette (M.S) was published by the Holy See Press office on May 2.
The Catholic Diocese of Maintirano has been under the temporary leadership of Bishop Zygmunt Robaszkiewicz of Madagascar’s Mahajanga Diocese as Apostolic Administrator since July 2023 following the transfer of Archbishop Gustavo Bombín Espino to the Catholic Archdiocese of Toliara.
Born in November 1974 in Ambohipihaonana – Ambohimanga, Rova, the Bishop-elect took his first vows as M.S. Congregation in 2010.
After two years of pastoral experience in Ankavandra and Mandoto, and juniorate at the Spiritual Centre of Antsahasoa, he took his perpetual vows in 2015; he was ordained a Priest in July 2016.
