Youths in Angola Invited to Massively Participate in Planned Festival

Márcio Kabilia, the Coordinator of the Youth Secretariat in Angola's Luanda Archdiocese

The Youth Secretariat in Angola’s Catholic Archdiocese of Luanda has called on young people in the Metropolitan See to “massively participate” in the youth festival scheduled for August 7-11.

On June 8, the Local Ordinary of Luanda Archdiocese, Archbishop Filomeno do Nascimento Vieira Dias announced the Youth Festival appealing to all young people not to be afraid to be “God's dream come true” wherever they are, and to be “God's enchanting radiance” in whatever they do.

In a Monday, June 10 interview with ACI Africa, Márcio Kabilia, the Coordinator of the Youth Secretariat rejoiced at the decision to hold the festival.

“Young people shouldn't miss this opportunity to interact with their peers from other dioceses. I invite them to massively participate in this moment of renewal,”  Kabilia said.

He added, “Each of us will take away good memories of this event, and above all let us be immersed in this activity. What we're preparing is something beautiful, something that will remain in the memory of every young person who will take part in it.”

Kabilia said the youth festival is an engaging activity that will lead participants to deep reflection on many aspects of their lives. “We hope that people will leave this event truly renewed,” he said.

The youth coordinator highlighted some of the activities on the program during the five-day event. “We're going to have spiritual activities and social activities. We're going to have fairs and training to equip the young people with life skills.”

There will also be entertainment for the hundreds of young people expected to attend.

He said the Archdiocese of Luanda has extended the invitation to other dioceses including the Diocese of São Tomé in São Tomé and Príncipe.

“This is the first festival in Luanda, so don't miss out, let's all take part because we are pilgrims of hope,” Kabilia said.
