Archbishop Henryk Mieczysław Jagodziński, who is leaving Ghana after close to four years as the representative of the Holy Father in the West African nation has said he had good and memorable experiences in the country.
Speaking during a farewell audience with the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Archbishop Jagodziński said, “I leave with many memories for Ghana is my second home.”
In the Monday, June 24 audience at Jubilee House, the Polish-born diplomat, who is set to represent the Holy Father in South Africa and Lesotho following his April 16 appointment also praised the work of the Catholic Church in Ghana, where he was based since he started his mission as Apostolic Nuncio in 2020.
On his part, President Akufo-Addo said the Apostolic Nuncio was leaving Ghana in a critical year in the life of the country, a moment it was going to have its ninth successive general election scheduled for December 7.
“My sojourn as the Head of the State is over. I have six more months; the constitution decrees my retirement and a new President will be elected in my stead, including a new parliament,” he added.
