Benguela, 07 July, 2024 / 8:17 pm (ACI Africa).
The Local Ordinary of the Catholic Diocese of Benguela in Angola has urged Seminarians in his Episcopal See to work for a just society.
In his homily during the closing Mass for the 2023/2024 academic year at Good Shepherd Major Seminary of Benguela Diocese, Bishop António Francisco Jaca told the Seminarians to be ready to face the world’s challenges, but remain firm in the faith.
“As future Priests, you have the obligation to defend the poor, the humble, to raise people's level of moral responsibility, so that atrocities are not committed, that delinquency does not take over society,” Bishop Jaca said during the Monday, July 1 Eucharistic celebration that was held at Our Lady of Fatima Cathedral of Benguela Diocese.
He added, “Today we face various social injustices, moral and sexual depravity, desecration of what is sacred. These realities are very present in today's societies.”
The Angolan Catholic Bishop called on the Seminarians “to stand up against these evils, to educate society to respect people, to respect moral and civic values, to respect all that is sacred.”
