In their statement shared with ACI Africa on Monday, July 8, members of the Africa Christian Professionals Forum (ACPF) weigh in on the July 6 convention of the three heads of State in Niger's capital, Niamey, saying their deliberations and expression of commitment to synergy give hope for prosperity in the Sahel Region.
ACPF members commend “the recent actions taken by the Sahel Heads of States in their steadfast commitment to unity and regional stability.”
“The collective efforts to counter the recent conflicts and focus on rebuilding the region signify a promising step towards an integrated and prosperous future for both the Sahel and the broader African continent,” they add referring to the coming together of Captain Ibrahim Traore of Burkina Faso, Colonel Assimi Goïta of Mali, and General Abdourahamane Tiani of Niger.
According to the ACFP statement, the three Heads of State adopted the treaty to establish the Confederation known as the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).
