Lasting peace is premised on our readiness to let go the negative experiences of the past, and reaffirming other and recalling their good, Bishop Michael Miabesue Bibi of Cameroon’s Catholic Diocese of Buea has said on the Feast Day of the Cameroonian Episcopal See.
On 11 July 1950, the first Local Ordinary of Buea Diocese, Bishop Peter Rogan, dedicated the Cameroonian Episcopal See to Our Lady Queen of Peace. Since then 11 July is marked as the Feast Day of the Diocese
In his homily on Thursday, July 11, the Feast Day of St. Benedict, Bishop Bibi sought the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary for the needs of the people of God under this pastoral care, and for lasting peace in the troubled regions of the Central African nation.
“We all know the importance of peace in our families, our Small Christian Communities, our different parishes, deaneries, and our Diocese. Above all, we know the importance of peace in our society and in the community where we all live,” he said at Regina Pacis Small Soppo Cathedral of Buea Diocese.
Bishop Bibi added, “For the past seven years, the North West and South West regions have been hit by a crisis. We have all seen the negative effects of war. We have all seen the bad effects of hatred, and the lack of peace in our society.”
