The Justice and Peace Commission of the Catholic Diocese of Ondjiva in Angola has reached out to the more than one thousand families affected by drought with food aid.
On Tuesday, September 3, members of the Commission distributed over 3 tons of food items to thousands of family members in Oshikhunga, a village in Cunene Province.
Addressing journalists during the food distribution, the Coordinator of the Diocesan Commission for Justice and Peace, Fr. Gaudêncio Félix Yakuleinge, said, “With these tons, we aim to benefit over 1,000 families registered in that locality.”
“Over the past few years, we have been seeking to establish the challenges community members face and found that one of the most critical issues is hunger, which has been plaguing our population,” Fr. Yakuleinge said.
Local catechists and community administrators were engaged in establishing the challenges and the partnership of the Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) has facilitated the realization of the food distribution, he said.
