The Parish Priest of Archangels Durumi-Gaduwa Parish of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja has attributed progress in infrastructural initiatives at the Nigerian Parish to the intercession of Mary Help of Christians.
Speaking to ACI Africa on the sidelines of the dedication and consecration of the Catholic Parish church on December 8, Fr. Ambrose Onyekachi Anene cited the successful completion of a modern church building and the acquisition of a parish house as some of the latest accomplishments through the intercession of Mary Help of Christians.
“St. John Bosco, our founder, whenever he needed land or want to do something for the church, he would bless the medal of Mary help of Christians and then put it there and then pray a lot for her intercession and things begin to work,” Fr. Anene, a member of the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) said.
He added, “In order to acquire our parish house, which was sharing fence with our Church, first of all, I followed his footsteps. I blessed the Mary help of Christian medals and threw it into the compound and told Mary Help of Christian that we want to possess this house, and we went into prayer also calling for her maternal intercession”.
The prayers led to an unexpected response from the property owner, who significantly reduced the selling price from ₦220 million (US$139,700.00) to ₦65 million (US$41,275.00). “The owner said our continuous prayers were making him uncomfortable and decided to sell the house at a much lower price,” Fr. Anene explained.
