The Coadjutor Bishop for the Catholic Diocese of Meru in Kenya has prayed for the speedy recovery and "complete healing" of Pope Francis, who has been undergoing treatment for double pneumonia at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital since 14 February 2025.
In his maiden speech following his Episcopal Consecration at Kinoru Stadium in Meru Diocese on Wednesday March 19, Bishop Jackson Murugara acknowledged the Holy Father’s love for the Church, wishing him “God’s grace and strength.”
“In a special way I wish His Holiness Pope Francis a quick recovery and complete healing. May God’s grace and strength continue to sustain you as you shepherd the universal church with such love and dedication,” he said.
Doctors attending to the ailing Pope, on 19 March 2025, confirmed that “Pope Francis’ condition continues to improve and he is no longer using noninvasive mechanical ventilation.”
In their medical update, the doctors noted that Pope Francis “has also reduced his use of high-flow oxygen therapy.”
