Abidjan, 05 October, 2019 / 2:29 am (ACI Africa).
In the spirit of the 33rd International Meeting for Peace held from September 15 to 17 in Madrid, Spain, the Community of Sant'Egidio in collaboration with the religious leaders of Ivory Coast, is organizing an inter-religious meeting for peace in the country’s economic capital, Abidjan, an official has told ACI Africa.
The three-day meeting (October 4-6) bringing together Christians, Muslims and other denominations is expected to be conducted under theme: “From Madrid to Abidjan, Peace Without Borders.”
“It is an appropriate theme when we look at the situation we are facing in Ivory Coast since the successive crisis we lived in our nation till date,” the Deputy National Coordinator for Sant’Edigio Ivory Coast, Alphonse Krekoum told ACI Africa Friday.
“It will therefore be an opportunity to work to appease the socio-political climate and also call our brothers and sisters to pray for peace in our country,” Krekoum added.
The meeting is expected to discuss topics such as peace, politics, democracy and corruption, with leaders of political parties and the civil society invited to participate.
