On the occasion of the ordination of three Deacons to the Priesthood for Ghana’s Sekondi-Takoradi Diocese, the ordaining Prelate counselled members of the Clergy to foster practices that translate to accountability to their parishioners.
“As Priests, your responsibility for the house of God is about stewardship, sacrifice, faithfulness, accountability, prayers and prudence,” Bishop Joseph Francis Kweku Essien of the Wiawso Diocese said Sunday, October 25.
At the event that took place at Our Lady Star of the Sea Cathedral of Takoradi, Bishop Essien urged the Deacons he was about to ordain as Priests and members of the Clergy in general to be accountable to their parishioners by “rendering accounts of church monies and donations to avoid being accused of misappropriation of church funds.”
He entreated Priests to endeavor to perform their Priestly duties with zeal, commitment and faithfulness, which would attract more people to the Catholic faith, urging them to step out of their comfort zones to serve the people of God.
