In an effort to realize operational efficiency and provide clarity in Church administration, Bishops and heads of Dioceses in Sudan and South Sudan have reorganized the structures of their common forum and assigned personnel to oversee the various departments of the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference (SCBC).
In an audio recording circulated Thursday, November 19, the Bishop of South Sudan’s Diocese of Tombura-Yambio, Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala explains some of the resolutions taken at SCBC’s Annual Plenary Assembly that took place in Sudan’s Khartoum Archdiocese November 9-16.
“During the plenary last week, we felt the need in our Conference to reorganize our financial department and issues to do with the assets of the Bishops’ conference,” Bishop Hiiboro says.
He further reveals that the Archbishop of Juba Stephen Ameyu, the Archbishop of Khartoum Michael Didi, and the Coordinator of South Sudan’s Rumbek Diocese, Fr. John Mathiang will henceforth oversee SCBC’s committee of finances.
Bishop Hiiboro adds, “One other important thing that we worked on was the Pastoral Coordinator in the Secretariat of the Bishops, which has been a missing element.”
