A symposium focusing on fraternal living that is emphasized in Pope Francis’ most recent Encyclical Letter, Fratelli Tutti brought together Christians from different denominations in Mozambique, Muslims as well as believers from the Hindu community who learnt the importance of living together in harmony.
The Thursday, December 10 event, which was organized by the community of Sant'egidio in Maputo was shared on the Community’s Facebook page and broadcast on local radio.
Speakers at the symposium included Bishop Piergiorgio Bertoldi, Apostolic Nuncio in Mozambique, and Archbishop Francisco Chimoio of Mozambique’s Maputo Archdiocese.
Reflecting on the Encyclical Letter, Archbishop Chimoio said that COVID-19 had taught humanity the importance of caring for each other as envisioned in the Holy Father’s letter.
“The Encyclical has as its objective the promotion of a worldwide aspiration, fraternity and special friendship,” Archbishop Chimoio said, and added, “In the common framework in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the situation proved that no one can be saved alone.”
