Wau, 01 June, 2021 / 8:03 pm (ACI Africa).
Security officials in South Sudan’s Western Bahr El Ghazal State have reportedly arrested four suspects in connection with the daytime theft at the residence of the Catholic Bishop of Wau.
“We have four suspects arrested. The most important thing to take after any criminal activity is investigation and arrest,” Police Commissioner, Samuel Ajuong Cuar told journalists in Wau Tuesday, June 1.
Mr Ajuong added the suspects have been detained in Wau, the capital of Western Bhar el Gahzal state, and that they are expected to be presented before a court “for justice to prevail.”
On May 9, the residence of Bishop Mathew Remijio Adam was looted in a daytime theft, an incident that the Vicar General of the South Sudanese Diocese confirmed.
Fr. Germano Bernado Baku said that the May 9 incident happened sometime in the afternoon in the absence of the Local Ordinary, Bishop Matthew Remijio, and security guards “who don’t work on Sundays.”
