Members of the Clergy, Religious and the Laity of Cameroon’s Bamenda Archdiocese have been invited to take part in “serious reparation prayers” following the desecration of two Parish churches in the Archdiocese.
The Blessed Sacrament was stolen from the Perpetual Adoration Chapel of Njinikom Parish and the tabernacle “completely dug off the Church wall and taken away” from Christ the King Parish Fuli Kom on May 14 and July 8 respectively.
In a Wednesday, July 14 statement, the Chancellor of Bamenda Archdiocese, Fr. Derek Che Choli calls on “on all the Christians of Njinikom and Fuli Kom Parishes to offer serious reparation prayers to atone for such blasphemies and sacrileges, with their Pastors providing a program for that.”
“We equally call on all the Christians in the Archdiocese to join in prayers so that we can lay our fingers in the issue at hand and know the truth behind these mishaps,” Fr. Choli says in the statement addressed to members of the Clergy ministering in the Cameroonian Archdiocese.
The Archdiocesan Chancellor says that the call for prayers is informed by the need to act and not let “men of the underworld play with what we hold so dear to our hearts.”
