Pope Francis has appointed Msgr. Mambé Jean-Sylvain Emien, a native of Ivory Coast, as his representative in Mali and assigned him the Titular See of Potenza Picena in Italy with the dignity of Archbishop.
The appointment of Msgr. Emien was published by the Holy See Press Office Wednesday, February 2.
The Ivorian Archbishop-elect has been serving as the Councilor of the Apostolic Nunciature in the West African nation of Mali.
Born in Ivory Coast in September 1970, Msgr. Emien was ordained a Priest for the West African nation’s Catholic Diocese of Yopougon in December 1997.
He entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See on 1 July 2005, and has, over the years, served in Apostolic Nunciatures in Angola, Nigeria, Guinea, Mali, New Zealand, Spain and the Czech Republic.
