Catholic Activists Urge UN to Omit Abortion, Contraceptives in Climate Change Conference

In the March 3 petition titled, “Stop United Nations from adopting abortion and sexualization as a solution to climate change,” the Catholic activists say it is “very clear that the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women is suggesting that abortion, gender ideology and sexualization of children are a solution to climate change.”

“We hereby demand that you erase with immediate effect paragraphs 3, 5 and 15 from the Zero Draft of the Agreed Conclusions as they do not represent the actual solutions to climate change,” say officials of the entity founded by the ultra-Catholic HazteOir organization. 

They say that while paragraphs three, five and 15 of the Zero Draft seem “very innocent and level headed to women in the grassroots”, pro-life experts based at the UN “are very worried about the language used therein as it is very harmful if it finds its way to the final draft.”

CitizenGO Africa officials further share their concern about “concerted effort” by the CSW66 to lockout pro-life groups from the planned event saying, “This is very dangerous considering that your voice and mine won’t be heard if a group like CitizenGO won’t be able to participate in events and follow negotiations.”

“We hope that the high-levelled commission will not reduce climate change into a discussion of killing babies and change of sex while there could be real solutions from climate experts,” CitizenGo Africa officials say in the petition addressed to diplomats, Chargé d'affaires, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and delegates to the CSW66.
