Pope Francis has appointed Mons. André Giraud Pindi Muanza the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Matadi in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC). The Bishop-elect has been serving as the Apostolic Administrator of the Congolese Diocese since March 2021.
The Episcopal appointment of the Congolese Cleric was made public by the Holy See Press Office Saturday, April 23 and announced by the leadership of the National Episcopal Conference of Congo (CENCO).
“His Holiness Pope Francis has appointed Monsignor André Giraud Pindi Muanza as the New Bishop of the Diocese of Matadi,” the President of CENCO, Archbishop Marcel Utembi Tapa, says in a statement issued April 23.
Archbishop Utembi adds, “The newly appointed Bishop was until now Apostolic Administrator Sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis of the same Diocese.”
“The General Secretariat of CENCO is delighted with this news; it presents its warm and sincere congratulations to His Excellency Mons. André Giraud Pindi Muanza and wishes him a fruitful and successful Episcopal Ministry in the Church-Family of God which is in Matadi,” CENCO leadership further says.
