Catholic Bishops in Kenya have pledged to start sharing weekly messages in what is to be called “Bishops' Sunday message” aimed at fostering evangelizing in the East African nation.
In a Thursday, June 2 virtual session with Catholic Communicators, the Chairman of Commission for Social Communications of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) said that will be distributed through “WhatsApp groups” will also be broadcast on Catholic radios and television.
“We have decided to have the Bishops' Sunday message strategy,” Archbishop Anthony Muheria said, and explained, “What this means is that, every Sunday, there will be a specific message prepared by our teams and that every single Catholic Church will have the message read out to the faithful during the announcement time.”
In the virtual event that was attended by over 30 Catholic communicators in Kenya, Archbishop Muheria said that each message shared will be brief, capturing in at most three short paragraphs the communication from a Catholic Bishop to the people of God.
The plan is to have the message of the week ready and distributed to communication coordinators and Vicars General by Friday so that the message can be read out to during Sunday Eucharistic celebration.
