Catechists in South Sudan’s Wau Diocese have been encouraged to help members of the Clergy reach out to the people of God at the grassroots.
Fr. Arkangelo Louis Sigin who was speaking during the opening of a six-day training for Catechists in the South Sudanese Diocese said, “I want you catechists to collaborate with the Priests in their respective parishes to help them continue with the spirit of evangelization in the grassroots.”
“The suffering people in these areas need people to preach the word of God,” Fr. Sigin said during the Monday, September event that was held at the Pastoral, Liturgical, and Catechetical (PALICA) Center of Wau Diocese.
The member of the Clergy of the Catholic Diocese of Wau who serves as Parish Priest of St. Anthony Padua of the South Sudanese Diocese expressed his awareness of the challenges those at the grassroots face.
“I know some of these places have a lot of suffering because of the conflict that had happened especially in 2013 and 2016 that made many people suffer,” Fr. Sigin said, and added, “Nobody could go to those places to help Christians by preaching to them and giving them courage.”
