The Catholic Archbishop of Juba in South Sudan has called on members of the Clergy in Torit Diocese to foster peace and unity in the East-Central African nation in a manner that they can rely upon.
In his homily during a Thanksgiving Holy Mass for the Centenary anniversary of Torit Diocese Monday, November 21, Archbishop Stephen Ameyu Martin said that members of the Clergy need to be aware of their role among the people of God.
“Be pillars of stability, peace, and unity in your communities and work for the good of your people,” Archbishop Ameyu said during Holy Mass held at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral of Torit Diocese.
The South Sudanese Archbishop urged members of the Clergy to know that their ministry “is very important for the people of God” they serve.
“You need to reconcile people within the community and it’s your role as Priests because it’s your responsibility as the messengers of God,” Archbishop Ameyu said, and underscored the need for Priests “to promote reconciliation amongst communities for sustainable peace.”
