Members of the Symposium of Episcopal Conference of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM) are praying and hoping that the general elections in Nigeria give the West African nation political leaders “with justice and integrity”.
In a goodwill message to members of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) shared with ACI Africa Thursday, February 16, the First Vice President of SECAM describes Nigeria as a country with “prospects of even greater things in the future”.
“It is on behalf of SECAM that I send you this message of solidarity and goodwill as your country holds national and general elections in the months of February and March 2023,” Fridolin Besungu Cardinal Ambongo says.
The Nigerian electorate are to go to the polls on February 25 to elect the country’s President, Vice President, and members of the Senate and House of Representatives. The 2023 Gubernatorial elections have been scheduled to take place on March 11.
“Nigeria occupies a position of prominent leadership and promise in the African Continent and has the prospects of even greater things in the future,” Cardinal Ambongo says in his one-page message.
