Nigerian Diocese Unveils Weeklong Program to Honor Victims of 2022 Pentecost Massacre

On Tuesday, June 6, Fr. Ikwu says there will be a visitation to the family members of the deceased and the disabled, which will be followed by the Holy Mass of the dedication of the church and consecration of the Altar on Thursday, June 8.

The last day, Saturday, June 10 will involve “Memorial Mass in honor of the deceased and in thanksgiving to God for the survivors at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Owaluwa, Owo – 10 am and opening of the memorial park built by Ondo Diocese – After Mass.”

In the circular, Fr. Ikwu calls for prayers for the success of the events.

“We equally solicit your prayers for consolation to families that still grieve over their loved ones, those who still nurse wounds from the injuries sustained and indeed everyone affected in one way or the other,” says the Social Communications Director of Ondo Diocese.

He says the Diocese of Ondo acknowledges with appreciation the support that the State Government, the Local Ordinary, Bishop Jude Ayodeji Arogundade, and all goodwill people gave to “ensure healing and recovery for all the affected since the occurrence of this ugly incident.”
