Catholic Bishops in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are encouraging the people of God in the Central African nation to develop a “strong sense” of worship and devotion to the Blessed Sacrament.
In their Pastoral Letter published Tuesday, June 27, members of the National Episcopal Conference of Congo (CENCO) say the call for Eucharistic worship and devotion is one of the important spiritual activities that Congolese people can engage in to continue living the fruits of the June 4-11 National Eucharistic Congress that was held under the theme, "Eucharist and Family".
“It is our sincere hope that all our Dioceses will develop a strong sense of Eucharistic worship and popular devotion, which will ensure the growth and promotion of our faith and our sacred liturgy,” CENCO members say.
They recommend that Catholic Dioceses in the country “promote the public procession of the Blessed Sacrament on the Solemnity of the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Jesus, Eucharistic adoration, visits to the Blessed Sacrament and the public Way of the Cross on Good Friday.”
CENCO members also urge the Congolese people to allow themselves to be maintained by the Holy Eucharist.
