The late Fr. Pamphili Nada, who was killed by a man suspected to be mentally challenged at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Karatu Parish of Tanzania’s Mbulu Diocese has been eulogized as a Priest who served “with courage and bravery”.
In a video recording, which the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) produced and published on Thursday, July 20, Bishop Anthony Gaspar Lagwen of Mbulu Diocese condoles with the people of God, underscoring the need to “take heart” and accept the death of Fr. Nada relying on “the strength of faith”.
“Incidents of this kind do happen,” Bishop Lagwen says in reference to the Wednesday, July 19 tragedy in which one, identified as Leonard Romani, who accessed the Tanzanian Parish seeking to be prayed over, hit Fr. Nada with a heavy blunt object, according to Tanzania’s Azam TV.
Security officers manning the Tanzanian Catholic Parish prevented Mr. Romani from accessing the church premises, but eventually allowed him upon receiving instructions from Fr. Nada, Azam TV has reported.
“Upon entering the church building, Mr. Romani attacked the Priest with a heavy and blunt object,” Azam TV has cited eye witnesses, and added that angry members of the public stormed the church and beat up the Priest’s attacker to death.
