The leadership of the Catholic Archdiocese of Rabat in Morocco is appealing for support ahead of the Diocesan Youth Day scheduled for November.

In a statement issued on Monday, September 18, the Archbishop of Rabat says the three-day spiritual exercise that is to kick off on November 4 is to be held under the theme, “With Mary, rise in haste for the encounter”.

“We urge you to actively inform those around you about the Diocesan Youth Day,” Cristóbal Cardinal López Romero says, and appeals for support, which he says “is essential if we are to bring the young people of our diocese together in a spirit of faith and encounter.”

Cardinal Romero adds, “In order to facilitate organization and balance costs, an equalization scheme will be set up for transport, so that each parish will make a fair contribution.”

“Young people will be asked to pay a modest sum of 50 dirhams (US$13.61) and bring a blanket for the two nights,” the Spanish-born member of the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) says, and urges Parishes to register their parishioners for the event before October 15.

He further appeals, “Please ensure that your parishioners register as soon as possible, to facilitate the management of transport, accommodation and catering issues.”

“Our goal is to welcome at least 400 young people for this celebration of faith. The invitation is extended to all young people in the diocese, aged 16 to 45,” Cardinal Romero who has been at the helm of Rabat Archbishop since his Episcopal Ordination in March 2018 says.

He goes on to speak about the logo contest that he says has been launched for this year’s Diocesan Youth Day.

“If you know of any talented artists or young people in your parishes, please encourage them to enter,” the SDB Cardinal says, and adds, “The deadline for entries is Thursday, September 28, and we'll announce the winner on Sunday, October 1.”

He directs, “The colors to be favored are yellow, in connection with the Vatican and Catholicism, as well as green and red, evoking our host country, Morocco.”

“Participants are free to express their creativity in line with the theme. Submissions can be sent to the dedicated e-mail address: concours@dioceserabat.org,” Cardinal Romero says.

He continues, “We sincerely thank you for your continued support, which will contribute to the success of these days. Your commitment and enthusiasm are essential to our diocesan community.”
