Malakal, 23 September, 2023 / 9:00 pm (ACI Africa).
The Vicar General of South Sudan’s Malakal Diocese has cautioned people of God affected by floods in Upper Nile State that is covered by the South Sudanese Episcopal See against despair.
In an interview with ACI Africa on Friday, September 22, Fr. William Bol called upon the flood victims to feel the presence of God in their lives amid the current challenges, which he said have negatively affected pastoral activities in the South Sudanese Catholic Diocese.
“In difficulties, we feel God closer. So, we encourage the people to keep their faith in God because difficulties are not meant to destroy us but to bring the best out of us, and find better ways to deal with the situation,” Fr. Bol said.
He called upon the flood victims in Malakal Diocese not to “give up because difficulties are meant to improve our lives. It is only in difficulties that we see the meaning of life.”
“We give hope to the people and the hope is that better things are ahead,” the South Sudanese Catholic Priest told ACI Africa in the interview at the General Secretariat of the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference (SCBC) in Juba.
