The Prefect of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Communication has lauded Catholic Journalists in Africa under the umbrella body of the Union of the African Catholic Press (UCAP) for their dedication to address environmental issues.
In his message of greetings addressed to the participants at the ongoing refresher program on integral ecology in Uganda that UCAP organized in collaboration with the Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC), Dr. Paolo Ruffini underlined the importance of unity in addressing issues related to the environment.
“Thanks for informing about your activities in order to enhance the capacity of media professionals to address environmental issues and propose truthful, effective, and integral approaches to the sustainable development of the African continent,” Dr. Ruffini said in his Monday, November 6 message at the Seminar that has been scheduled to end Saturday, November 11.
He added, “I am confident that you will catch this seminar's opportunity to take resolutions and strong commitment for raising more consciousness that ‘as part of the universe... all of us are linked by unseen bonds and together form a kind of universal family, a sublime communion which fills us with a sacred, affectionate and humble respect’”.
The six-day seminar has been organized under the theme, “Contribution of journalists and media practitioners for an integral ecology according to Pope Francis' encyclical ‘Laudato Si’.”
