Catholic Bishop in Angola Encourages Young People to “keep the faith” amid Challenges

“Entrepreneurship helps to awaken in young people the capacity to create new things, make a study of their society, their neighborhood, what the needs of their neighborhood are, what people need most in that neighborhood and then look for a solution to it, that is, to look for a solution to this problem that society, that the neighborhood faces,” Bishop Camuto said.

He added, “This is one way of being an entrepreneur. This isn't for everyone, it's for some, but those who have this gift of being creative, some with this gift, should follow this gift, to actually find solutions, ways to help other young people get out of unemployment.”

The Spiritan Bishop, who has been at the helm of Caxito Diocese since his Episcopal Consecration in August 2020 said, “The Church can give clues, it can give guidance, but you can't expect support, financial support from the Church, because we don't have. It is the State that has the money that belongs to everyone. So it's the State that has to create these conditions, to make life easier for young people.”

“Young people should get more involved and form a force, a force capable of demanding their rights, but that we don't stop there in demanding our rights, but that we are also capable of fulfilling our duties,” Bishop Camuto said.

He further said, “It's a duty to be well trained, well educated, well competitive, to be able to stand up to others, to rise to the challenges.”
