Speaking to Church communications professionals the pope emphasized the need for a human-centered approach to communication.
“I dream of a communication that does not peddle illusions or fears but is able to give reasons for hope,” the pope said.
Media professionals from different countries will gather Jan. 24–26 in the Eternal City to take part in the Jubilee of the World of Communications.
Pope Francis has called on Catholics to counter toxicity in social media, and to engage in dialogue and education to help deal with “lies and misinformation”.
The pope also warned about “disinformation” in today’s media environment.
The pope was meeting members of the Pauline Family.
