Bishop Vicente Carlos Kiaziku of the Catholic Diocese of Mbanza Congo in Angola has called upon the five Deacons he ordained in his Episcopal See to prioritize the needy in the community during their Diaconate and Priestly ministry.
In his homily during the Diaconate Ordination of Seminarians Pascoal Emília, Pedro Vuvu, Kiamuanga Ambrósio, Tiago Pambi and José Francisco, Bishop Kiaziku emphasized the fostering of “true charity” in the example of Jesus Christ.
“Dear candidates, the challenges for Deacons are the mediation of love that has no measure, that is, true charity, charity based on the way of Christ, which should lead you to be very attentive to the needs of all, both spiritual and material,” he said during the April 28 Ordination event at Our Lady of the Conception Parish of Mbanza Congo Diocese.
The Catholic Bishop highlighted the needy in society, and urged the five candidates he was to ordain Deacons “especially to care for the sick and the poor.”
He went on to highlight other traits that should characterize their ministry as Deacons, urging them “to have modest authority, perfect rectitude, docility to the Holy Spirit, to live the joy of consecration, to listen to the Word of God that is faithfully proclaimed, and to show love for Mary, Mother of the Church and Mother of vocations.”
