Pope Francis has appointed Mons. Kryspin Dubiel, a native of Poland, as the new Apostolic Nuncio to Angola, assigning him the Titular See of Vannida in Mauritania with the dignity of Archbishop.
The appointment of Mons. Dubiel to represent the Holy Father in the West African nation of Angola was announced on Monday, July 1, and published by the Holy See Press Office on the same day.
The Luanda-based Apostolic Nunciature has been vacant since March 2 this year when the Holy Father transferred Archbishop Archbishop Giovanni Gaspari to Korea and Mongolia after serving in the country for about four years.
Born in Nowa Sarzyna in the Polish Diocese of Przemyśl in November 1973, the Archbishop-elect who has been serving as Councilor of the Apostolic Nunciature was ordained a Priest in May 1998 after completing his priestly formation.
The graduate in Canon law entered the Diplomatic Service of the Holy See on 1 July 2004 and worked for the Pontifical Representations in Rwanda, Belarus, Colombia, the Philippines, Poland, Slovenia, and the United Arab Emirates.
