Alluding to the ongoing Generation Z (Gen Z)-led protests in the East African nation, he added, “Let us pray that you can lead the young generation to know the will of God and help them to grow in God’s wisdom and grace so that even as they pursue their agenda like in our country, they remain well guided.”

The Kenyan Catholic Bishop, who started his Episcopal Ministry in April further urged the Deacons-elect and the Priests-elect to embrace what he referred to as the “office of Christ” which he said involves teaching, sanctification, and leadership.

“You have to be involved in the office of Christ because you are going to be configured with Christ Himself and you will be standing in God’s presence,” he said, adding, “It is very humbling when you realize that becoming a Priest is about standing in God’s presence.”

Referring to the First Reading from Prophet Hosea addressing the theme of responsibility, the Kenyan Catholic Bishop said that the “office of Christ” involves educating God’s people. He said, “The first office of Christ is about teaching, enlightening the people of God, and leading them to the truth.”

“The second in Christ’s office is sanctification; that through the sacrament, we sanctify the people of God,” Bishop Kamomoe said, and continued, “That is why you will be able to offer sacrifices for your sins and the sins of the people of God.”

He advised the newly ordained Priests to approach the Sacrament of Penance and the Sacrament of the Eucharist with great seriousness, describing the two Sacraments as essential in divine interventions for the salvation of souls.

“Unfortunately, many of us have lost the sense of sin; some people live extravagantly sinning, and go on to partake in the Holy Eucharist, without adequate preparation,” Bishop Kamomoe said, reiterating his June 16 homily during the Mang’u Deanery Family Day celebration at St. John the Baptist Mang’u Parish of ADN.

The third “office of Christ”, he went on to say, is based on leadership.

“We have to offer the leadership of Christ,” the Catholic Church leader said, and continued, “We are called to serve in various capacities such as administrators, pastors. We have to appreciate one another in these varied duties.”

“In our country, let us also help our leaders to go back to God; if they do, our country will develop,” Bishop Kamomoe said.
