Abidjan, 01 December, 2024 / 10:50 pm (ACI Africa).
Archbishop Ignace Bessi Dogbo, one of the two Archbishops from Africa to be created Cardinals, has explained the symbols and motto represented in his coat of arms.
The Local Ordinary of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abidjan in Ivory Coast is among the 21 Catholic Church leaders, to be made Cardinals during the next Consistory, which the Holy Father said would take place on December 8.
In an interview with ACI Africa on Sunday, December 1, Archbishop Dogbo provided details about his coat of arms which includes a cross, living water, sheep, and his motto “All Things to All” which is drawn from 1 Corinthians.
At the heart of Archbishop Dogbo’s coat of arms is the cross, the central symbol of the Christian faith.
The cross, he said, “recalls Christ's sacrifice for the salvation of humanity and invites every believer to embrace his or her own cross in a spirit of faith and love.”
