The Inter-Regional Meeting of Bishops of Southern Africa (IMBISA) has congratulated the Major Seminary of St. Augustine of Roma in Lesotho as it marks 100 years since its establishment.
In a message that ACI Africa obtained on Tuesday, December 3, Fr. Rafael Sapato, Director of the IMBISA Secretariat acknowledged the seminary for its centenary of service in forming “workers for evangelization”, promoting the common good, and fostering a fraternal society.
“A centenary is a great historical milestone, worthy of being celebrated, as it is a long journey in the formation of workers of evangelization, promotion of the common good, and construction of a fraternal society,” Fr. Sapato said.
Referring to Pope Francis’ Encyclical Letter on human fraternity and social friendship, Fratelli Tutti, the IMBISA secretariat official described the 100-year milestone as a significant historical achievement for the Seminary.
Fr. Sapato attributed the long journey of formation to God’s guidance, saying, “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain; unless the Lord guards the city, the sentries watch in vain.”
