Katsina, 13 December, 2024 / 9:47 pm (ACI Africa).
The Catholic Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Katsina has encouraged the first group of women, who completed a Catechetical training in the Nigerian Diocese to carry out their pastoral duties with confidence, emphasizing that the Christian community has a responsibility to support them.
In the December 10 report, Bishop Gerald Mamman Musa encouraged the female Catechists to be dedicated to their ministry, drawing strength from communion with God in prayer.
Addressing the female Catechists, who were part of the 48 that graduated, Bishop Musa said, “Carry out your pastoral activities with the assurance and support of the Christian community.”
In his address at the graduation ceremony that was held at St. Joseph Mukasa Catechetical Training Centre, the Nigerian Catholic Bishop told the entire group of graduands, “As catechists, you are to hold firm to the values of prayer, daily reading and living of the Word of God and a life of dedication in your ministry.”
The Catechists, who are to engage in pastoral activities in Katsina, and in Nigeria’s embattled Northern region were also encouraged to be mentors of prayer, dedication, and rootedness in the Word of God.
