Members of the Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC) are calling on Christians to reflect on the centrality of the institution of the family, which they term “the nucleus of society and Church”.
In their Christmas message issued on December 22, UEC members urge Christians to strengthen the institution of the family, drawing inspiration from the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Jesus.
“We invite you during this Christmas, in particular, to reflect and focus on strengthening the family as the nucleus of society and the Church, by emulating the Holy Family of Nazareth, the model of peace, love, and service,” they say.
“Christmas is an important opportunity for us Christians to relive our encounter with God through the mystery of incarnation,” the Catholic Church leaders reiterate in the four-page statement that UEC chairman, Bishop Joseph Anthony Zziwa of Uganda’s Kiyinda Mityana Diocese, signed.
To emphasize the significance of the Holy Family to followers of Christ, Uganda’s Catholic Bishops highlight the mystery of incarnation as important.
