The National Coordinator of the Association for the Promotion of Women in the Angolan Catholic Church (PROMAICA) has highlighted the role of women in Church and society as “crucial” and to be fostered.
In an interview with ACI Africa on Friday, March 14, Julieta Araújo reflected on the month of March dedicated to Angola’s women, underscoring their role in transmitting faith.
“During this month, we women recognize the achievements and moments when other women have inspired us throughout history, as they worked hard so that today we can be more aware of who we are,” Araújo said.
She added, “Women have a crucial role in passing on the faith, being responsible for catechesis and evangelization within communities. They act as guides for other women and young people, sharing religious and social knowledge.”
The PROMAICA Coordinator acknowledged the role of women among extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, a ministry that she said allows for greater participation in liturgical celebrations.
