Juba, 27 June, 2020 / 8:30 pm (ACI Africa).
Caritas South Sudan, the development and humanitarian arm of the Catholic Church in the world’s youngest nation, has launched an awareness campaign initiative on the preventive measures of COVID-19 in the East-Central African nation, an official involved in the initiative has told ACI Africa.
“Caritas South Sudan is creating awareness on the preventive measures of COVID-19 through key messages, IEC (Information, Education and Communication) materials, live radio and road talk shows as well as provision of hygiene materials,” Humanitarian Coordinator for Caritas South Sudan, Joseph Pasquale told ACI Africa Wednesday, June 24, after the road talks started at Bishops’ secretariat.
According to the Humanitarian Coordinator, the organization’s staff members had been given awareness sessions on COVID-19 and the speakers who are experienced in public speaking had been hired with close supervision of a diocesan staff to ensure that the right messages are conveyed to the public.
The Caritas South Sudan campaign is designed to reach out not only to the people in the Juba Ecclesiastical Province but also to the people of the Roman Catholic Church in all the other six dioceses.
Apart from the territory covered by the only Metropolitan Archdiocese of Juba, the other dioceses to be reached include the dioceses of Malakal, Yei, Rumbek, Wau, Tombura-Yambio, and Torit.
