Tanzania to Host Continental Workshop on Small Christian Communities in September

The Network of Small Christian Communities (SCCs) in Africa is set to have its sixth meeting in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in September.

“The meeting will take place ahead of the extraordinary missionary month of October, so as to carry out resolutions on how SCCs in Africa can be of support for everyone to evangelize,” Fr. Emmanuel Chimombo who serves in the executive team towards the preparations of the meeting told ACI Africa Tuesday.

In this regard, the meeting whose theme is “Small Christian Communities as Missionary Agents,”takes up Pope Francis’ invitation to celebrate the Extraordinary Month of Mission, Father Chimombo who coordinates the Pastoral department of the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA) revealed.

He explained that the workshop, slated to take place from September 9-12, has the aim of giving fresh vitality to missionary work in Africa and how evangelization can be carried out by all people irrespective of status.

According to Fr. Chimombo, the four-day workshop will focus on the Pope’s document, The Church of Christ on Mission in the World which talks about ‘greater awareness of mission to all peoples and to animate the missionary transformation of Church life and pastoral activity.’
