Pope Francis has appointed the Parish Priest of St. Odilia Cathedral of Bondoukou Diocese, Fr. Alain Clément Amiezi, Bishop of Odienné Diocese in Ivory Coast.
The appointment of Fr. Amiezi as Bishop of the Ivorian Catholic Diocese was published by the Holy See Press office on Thursday, June 30.
The Catholic Diocese of Odienné has been vacant since May 2019 when Bishop Antoine Koné who had been at the helm of the Ivorian Diocese since his Episcopal Ordination in August 2009 passed on.
Born in 1970 in Ivory Coast’s Bondoukou Diocese, Fr. Amiezi was ordained a Priest in May 1999 after he had completed his formation program in Philosophy and Theology with the Society of African Missions (SMA) at Ebimpé in Abidjan Archdiocese and at the Sacred Heart of Mary Major Seminary in Anyama respectively.
Since he was ordained a Priest, the member of the Clergy of Bondoukou Diocese has served in his native Diocese, initially as Assistant Parish Priest of the Cathedral St. Odilia Cathedral and later, until his appointment as Bishop, as Parish Priest.
