Members of the Religious Institute of the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) in Tanzania are partnering with Real Madrid Foundation, the social arm of the Spanish Football Club, Real Madrid, to provide young people in the East African nation with value-based training and socio-sporting skills.
A report published Tuesday, October 25 indicates that over 100 youth aged between nine and 17 years have benefitted from the project that is being realized at Don Bosco Oysterbay Vocational Training Center in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
“Since 2019, 180 youth from Don Bosco Oysterbay Vocational Training Center in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, have been receiving values-based training through sport thanks to a partnership between Real Madrid Foundation and the Salesian Missions Office in Madrid, Spain,” SDB officials are quoted as saying in the report.
Training sessions that have already been realized have sought to equip the participants with knowledge based on Real Madrid Foundation’s educational philosophy and methodology under the theme, “For a REAL education: values and sport”.
Topics such as health, hygiene, values, and the prevention of alcohol, tobacco, and drug abuse have been discussed during the training sessions, the Salesian officials say.
