The Catholic Bishop of South Sudan’s Wau Diocese has cautioned young people in the East-Central African nation against “being misled” to engage in bad behavior.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of a youth training conference organized by the Youth office of Wau Diocese on Thursday, November 17, Bishop Mathew Remijo Adam acknowledged the role of the youth at the grassroots, including centers and the Parishes of his Episcopal See.
“We are training you today as Catholic youth to be peace promoters in your communities and the country because most of you are being misled to do bad things within the society that other people don’t’ recognize,” Bishop Remijo said.
Making reference to the objective of the conference, he said, “We called you here as the youth in our Diocese to talk about the challenges and to think about your life as young people and to care for others.”
“You should always come together to know yourself in case you don’t know each other,” the South Sudanese member of the Comboni Missionaries (MCCJ) said during the event that brought together 150 youth from five Parishes of Wau Diocese.
