Religious leaders in Kenya have decried the “swelling spread and support” for what they describe as “a new regime of rights” that is pushing for same-sex relations in Africa in general and in the East African nation in particular.
In a statement shared with ACI Africa Tuesday, February 7, members of the Inter-Religious Council of Kenya (IRCK) say they cannot remain quiet while the indoctrination of same-sex relations destroys families and decent morals.
“The swelling spread and support for a new regime of rights sweeping across the African continent and in Kenya, turning respectable traditions and morals on their heads is a concern to us. This new regime of rights is being blown into Kenya by winds from the West, and planting seeds of destruction against the natural order of human relations and intimacy,” IRCK members say.
They add, “There are books in the market with content encouraging same-sex relations.”
Children and learners, IRCK members say, “must not be introduced to, or indoctrinated into immoral, unnatural, socially, and medically destructive practices that spell doom to those who practice the vice.”
