Vianna, 08 February, 2020 / 5:21 am (ACI Africa).
At the official launch of the activities of Angola’s Christian Association of Managers and Leaders (ACGD) for the new year, the Bishop of Viana, Emílio Sumbelelo appealed to ACGD members to live exemplary lives guided by the spirit of stewardship and related virtues.
“As Members of this great association, you must lead a life of integrity worth emulating. Integrity requires the member not to let himself be carried away by corruption,” Bishop Sumbelelo told close to 100 ACGD members Tuesday, February 4 during the solemn Mass.
He added, “Integrity also implies knowing how to refuse gifts, pecuniary or material advantages from anyone, which may represent an improper relationship, that is, an act of corruption.”
“We want to count on you in this urgent and singular hour to leave for our Church and our nation,” the Angolan Prelate said and continued, “We want to count on you as baptized men and women, as Catholic men and women who have a good mastery of the Social Doctrine of the Church to make a difference in our society.”
He emphasized, “At a time when man wants to put God aside, to give up his history and build his history without God, the Catholic Church wants to have a strong laity who can bring God and his message of justice and peace to temporal realities.”
