Pope Francis has appointed Mons. Lawrence Mukasa who has been serving as the Vicar General of Uganda’s Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese, the Local Ordinary of the East African country’s Kasana-Luweero Diocese.
The appointment of Mons. Mukasa as the Bishop of the Ugandan Diocese was published by the Holy See Press Office on Saturday, April 29.
Kasana-Luweero Diocese has been vacant since December 2021 when Bishop Paul Ssemogerere was transferred to Kampala Archdiocese.
Mons. Mukasa, a native of Nabwiri in the Archdiocese of Kampala where he was born in March 1957 was ordained a Priest in June 1984 after he had been incardinated in the Diocese of Kiyinda-Mityana at this Diaconate Ordination.
As a Priest, the Bishop-elect has served in various capacities, including Vicar of Bukalagi Parish, Vicar of Naluggi Parish, and professor and formator at St. Thomas Aquinas National Major Seminary in Katigondo.
