Pope Francis has appointed Archbishop Antonio Guido Filipazzi, currently Apostolic Nuncio in Nigeria as his representative in the central European nation of Poland.
The transfer of the Italian Archbishop from the West African nation to Poland was announced Tuesday, August 8, and published by the Holy See Press Office.
Born in October 1963 in the Archdiocese of Milano, Archbishop Filipazzi was ordained a Priest of Italy’s Genova-Bobbio Diocese in June 1987, before being incardinated in Ventimiglia-San Remo Diocese in September 1989.
As a Priest, Archbishop Filipazzi served as parochial vicar of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Ventimiglia and also taught canon law at the Episcopal Seminary Pio XI of Bordighera.
The holder of a doctorate in Canon Law at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross and a diploma from the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See in July 1992.
