Pope Francis has appointed Bishop Hilário da Cruz Massinga of Mozambique’s Quelimane Diocese as the Auxiliary Bishop for the Catholic Diocese of Inhambane in the Southern African nation.
The appointment of Bishop Massinga, who has been serving as the Local Ordinary of Quelimane Diocese, was published by the Holy See Press office on Friday, August 11.
Born in June 1958 in Banze/Chidenguele, Manjacaze district, Gaza region, he was ordained a Priest in January 1994.
The member of the Order of Friars Minor (OFM) who has been assigned the Titular See of Chullu holds a Licentiate in Franciscan Spirituality from the Pontifical University Antonianum in Rome.
In April 2003, he was appointed Bishop of Lichinga by Pope John Paul II. Bishop Massinga was later transferred to Quelimane Diocese in January 2008.
